The Arts Council of the Valley (ACV) is set to host the first-ever Harrisonburg Chalk Art Festival, "Chalk It Up! to the Arts," on June 14. The event invites local artists, students, and artist collectives to take part in a day of creative fun on South Main Street during the Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance’s Best.Weekend.Ever.

From noon to 5 p.m., participants will have the chance to showcase their chalk art in designated areas on Main Street. Additionally, there will be a community chalk mosaic space in the Asbury United Methodist Church parking lot, and large-scale street art by renowned chalk artist Jennifer Chaparro and event co-organizer Robert Mott.

Artists can choose from three different chalking space sizes—4’ x 6’ vertical, 6’ x 8’ horizontal, or 8’ x 8’ square. Participation is free, and artists can learn more or sign up at valleyarts.org/chalk-it-up-to-the-arts/.
