Ed Sheeran Nixes Asia Tour Dates After Bike Accident

Ed Sheeran has scrapped half his tour of Asia after suffering multiple injuries to his arms in a bike accident.

The British singer-songwriter will miss the first seven concerts of his trek, which was due to kick off Oct. 22 in Taipei. He broke the bad news with an Instagram post. “A visit to my doctors confirmed fractures in my right wrist and left elbow that will leave me unable to perform live concerts for the immediate future. Sadly, this means that the following shows will not be able to go ahead as planned: Taipei, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong. I’m waiting to see how the healing progresses before we have to decide on shows beyond that. Please stay tuned for more details.”

The injuries are so severe, we're told, Sheeran dictated the message. Both arms are either in plaster or bandaged, which clearly rules out his playing a guitar over a two-hour concert.

What that means is Sheeran is out of action until the second week of November, at best. As it stands, his shows in Manila, Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Mumbai and Dubai concerts will go ahead as planned, assuming he makes a speedy recovery.

Sheeran’s Asia tour is scheduled to wrap Nov. 19, after which he has a lengthy stint on the sidelines to recuperate. His next outing is a tour of Australia, starting early March 2018. It's a safe bet Sheeran will be kept away from bikes for the foreseeable future.
