Tom Felton is stepping back into the world of Harry Potter — this time on Broadway!
Felton revealed on TODAY that he’ll be reprising his iconic role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for a 19-week run starting in November. Speaking with Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin on June 5, Felton described the opportunity as surreal: “I keep thinking I’m dreaming. I said goodbye to that character 16 years ago, and now I get to return — this time as a father in a new storyline.”
At 37, Felton will be the first actor from the original film cast to join the Broadway adaptation, which is set 19 years after the main series. It follows Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as they send their own children off to Hogwarts. “Harry Potter was such a huge part of my childhood, and now I get to revisit it while moving forward,” Felton said.
He explained that the play stands on its own, separate from the films many fans grew up with. “We’re picking up 19 years later. We’re no longer kids — we’re parents now,” he said. “So even though I’m playing Draco again, it’s a whole new experience. I know who he was as a teenager, but as an adult, that’s new territory. That’s what makes it so exciting.”
This marks Felton’s first time playing Draco in nearly 15 years — and his Broadway debut. “It’s easy to get emotional,” he said. “When they put the blond wig on me for the production, I just started crying. It felt like a flood of memories.”
Felton’s run will take place at the Lyric Theatre in New York City from November 11, 2025, to March 22, 2026. Fans can sign up for early ticket access starting June 10 at 11 a.m. ET, with general ticket sales beginning June 12 at the same time.
