Zayn Malik is preparing to release a new song addressing the racism he faced while in One Direction. The 32-year-old singer, who rose to fame with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and the late Liam Payne in the hugely popular boy band, left the group in 2015 to start a solo career.

Zayn recently shared a snippet of a track called "Fuchsia Sea" on Instagram, singing, “I worked hard in a white band / And they still laughed at the Asian.” This song title also appeared on his 2024 album Room Under The Stairs, but it’s unclear if this is a new version or a completely new song. He captioned the post with “Zaddy’s home” and hinted the release is coming soon.

Of Pakistani descent through his father, Zayn has previously spoken about racist attacks he endured, including being wrongly labeled a terrorist. In 2012, he told The Sun, “Nasty things [were said] like I’m a terrorist... How can you justify that?”

Recently, Zayn got emotional performing One Direction’s "Night Changes" in Mexico City, marking 10 years since he left the band. He told the crowd, “I almost cried at one point. This is insane.”

Back in 2015, he announced his departure to fans, explaining he needed a break to live a more normal life and have privacy at age 22. Last year, he reunited with Harry, Niall, and Louis at the funeral of Liam Payne, who tragically died by suicide in October 2024.
