Jennifer Lopez has shared that her recent divorce from Ben Affleck ultimately gave her valuable perspective and personal growth.

The singer and actress confirmed their separation in April 2024 after less than two years of marriage, with the divorce finalized in January. In an interview on September 28 with CBS News Sunday Morning, Lopez described the painful chapter as a turning point in her life.

“It changed me,” she said. “I became more self-aware, more present, more joyful. The difficult moments were lessons, and once I understood that, everything felt lighter.”

Lopez acknowledged the challenge of balancing her personal struggles with the filming of Kiss of the Spider Woman, which premieres October 10. She admitted it was “the best and worst of times,” explaining that while she found joy on set, life at home was “not great.”

Despite the split, Lopez credited Affleck for backing the project financially through his production company, Artists Equity. “The movie wouldn’t have happened without him,” she said.

Directed by Bill Condon and co-starring Diego Luna, the musical drama brings the stage classic to the big screen.
