Just days after Bad Bunny was confirmed as the headliner for the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show, political controversy has already surfaced.
During an October 1 interview on The Benny Show, Corey Lewandowski — a longtime Trump campaign manager who now advises the Department of Homeland Security — said that ICE agents will be present at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, when the game takes place on February 8, 2026.
“There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally,” Lewandowski stated. “Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find you and apprehend you.”
His comments followed Bad Bunny’s announcement, which drew global attention as the Puerto Rican superstar previously avoided U.S. tour dates over fears that immigration enforcement could target his audiences. The artist explained in September that those concerns, not dislike of the country, motivated his decision, emphasizing: “I’ve performed there many times… all of them magnificent.”
Lewandowski also criticized the NFL and Roc Nation’s choice of Bad Bunny, calling it “shameful” and claiming the performer “seems to hate America.” He suggested the league should have chosen “more inclusive” acts to “bring people together.”
Bad Bunny, who debuted at the Super Bowl in 2020 alongside Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, has not commented on Lewandowski’s remarks.
