Folk fans, this is the collab we didn’t know we needed — Mumford & Sons and Hozier have joined forces for a brand-new single called “Rubber Band Man.”
The track is a gentle yet soaring mix of both artists’ sounds, featuring Marcus Mumford and Hozier trading verses before blending their vocals on a powerful chorus. Recorded at Long Pond Studios in upstate New York and produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, the song captures that earthy, emotional energy both acts are known for.
The collaboration comes just months after Mumford & Sons’ fifth studio album RUSHMERE topped the UK Albums Chart. The band and Hozier have a long history together — they first performed side by side in 2017 at Longitude Festival, covering The Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends”, and reunited on stage again in 2023 at Austin City Limits.
In a recent chat with Radio X, the band revealed that while working with Hozier has been a dream, their “collab bucket list” isn’t finished yet. Marcus Mumford name-dropped a few legends he’d love to team up with — including Stevie Nicks, Adele, and Paul McCartney. “I’d love to sing with Stevie one day,” he said. “We’ve known Adele a long time — I adore her. And we’ve never done McCartney… that’d be a dream.”
Mumford & Sons have spent the summer touring the U.S. with artists like Maggie Rogers and Noah Kahan, and they’ll wrap up their world tour with two massive shows at London’s O2 Arena this November.
