Sean “Diddy” Combs has been accepted into a drug abuse rehabilitation program that could shorten his prison sentence by up to a year, according to The New York Times.

The 55-year-old fallen music mogul, who is currently serving a more than four-year sentence at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Complex in New Jersey, was convicted earlier this year on prostitution-related charges. The Bureau of Prisons currently lists his release date as May 2028.

The rehab program, which includes intensive therapy and addiction treatment, is designed for inmates with documented substance abuse histories. Combs’ spokesman, Juda Engelmayer, confirmed his acceptance, saying the rapper is “committed to sobriety, focused on healing, and trying to set an example for others.

During his trial, prosecutors presented evidence of drug use and possession, citing substances found during a federal raid of Combs’ home — including cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, and benzodiazepines. His attorneys have since said he has remained sober while incarcerated.

At Fort Dix, Combs is reportedly living in a nine-person dormitory within a 200-inmate housing unit and works in the chapel library. While a recent TMZ report alleged he was caught drinking homemade alcohol, his spokesperson denied the claim.
