Kelly Clarkson is offering a rare glimpse into her home life as she navigates loss with her family following the death of her former husband, Brandon Blackstock.

In a short fan Q&A shared on the official The Kelly Clarkson Show YouTube channel, Clarkson was asked what brings her joy on a daily basis. Her response focused on time spent with her children, daughter River and son Remington, whom she shares with Blackstock.

Clarkson explained that her kids, now elementary and pre-teen age, are at a stage where they’re growing more independent but still eager for closeness. She shared that cuddling with them has become especially meaningful during a challenging period for their family.

The singer and talk show host added that she has been allowing her children to sleep alongside her more often recently, describing evenings filled with her kids and dogs as hectic but deeply comforting. She said those quiet moments often lead to sweet conversations that have become the highlight of her day.

The Q&A was posted Saturday, Jan. 10, roughly five months after Blackstock’s death at age 48. He died in August 2025 following a three-year battle with melanoma. Clarkson and Blackstock were married for seven years before divorcing in 2020.

Blackstock’s passing was confirmed by Starstruck Entertainment, the management company he co-founded with his father, Narvel Blackstock. The company said he died peacefully after a prolonged fight with cancer.

Just one day before his death, Clarkson postponed performances from her Las Vegas residency, explaining to fans that she needed to step away to be fully present for her children during a difficult time.
