Gracie Abrams is usually private about her relationship with Paul Mescal, but on Friday (Jan. 16), she made an exception—sharing a rare and emotional tribute to both her boyfriend and his latest film, Hamnet.

Abrams took to Instagram Stories with a series of candid photos, beginning with a quiet hiking shot of Mescal and a simple caption that signaled what was coming. She later shared images of Mescal alongside director Chloé Zhao, praising the film’s emotional impact and calling Zhao, co-star Jessie Buckley, and Mescal “singular” talents. In another post, Abrams added a playful but heartfelt note alongside a photo of Mescal wearing a Shakespeare shirt: “Also I love him surprise.”

She encouraged fans to catch Hamnet in theaters, following the film’s recent win for Best Drama Motion Picture at the Golden Globes. Abrams and Mescal were spotted attending a post-ceremony celebration together shortly after.

The posts arrived just days before Abrams announced a major career milestone of her own: her acting debut in Please, an upcoming A24 project directed by Halina Reijn. Details about the film remain under wraps.

Abrams and Mescal were first linked in summer 2024 after being seen together in London. Since then, they’ve quietly supported one another’s work—Mescal attending Abrams’ shows, and Abrams appearing at the premiere of Gladiator II. While the couple has shared glimpses of their relationship online, Mescal has previously said he values keeping those moments protected.
