Pop icon Britney Spears has officially sold the rights to her entire music catalog, transferring her ownership stake in decades of hits to Primary Wave.

The deal, finalized on December 30, includes Spears’ share of chart-topping songs such as “…Baby One More Time,” “Oops!… I Did It Again,” “Lucky,” and “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,” among others that defined late-1990s and early-2000s pop music. While the exact financial terms were not disclosed, reports indicate the agreement is comparable in scale to Justin Bieber’s widely reported $200 million catalog sale in 2023.

Primary Wave has built a reputation for acquiring high-profile music rights, previously striking deals involving the estates or catalogs of major artists across genres. For performers, these transactions can provide a substantial upfront payout while shifting long-term management and administrative responsibilities to the buyer.

The sale marks another major chapter in Spears’ post-conservatorship era. After spending 13 years under a court-ordered conservatorship that ended in 2021, Spears has largely stepped back from the traditional album cycle. Her most recent studio release was 2016’s Glory, and she has indicated she does not plan to perform again in the United States.

In a recent social media post, Spears wrote that she would “never perform in the U.S. again,” citing deeply personal reasons. However, she suggested she may consider intimate performances overseas, mentioning the possibility of appearing in the United Kingdom or Australia in the future.

The catalog sale places Spears among a growing list of artists choosing to monetize their life’s work through large-scale rights deals — a trend that continues to reshape the modern music industry.
