Lady Gaga took time during the busy Super Bowl weekend for a surprise tribute honoring the impact of the tragedies experienced around the country since the start of the new year, from the deadly New Year's attack in New Orleans and devastating wildfires in Los Angeles to the tragic plane crashes in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia and those still feeling the effects of Hurricane Helene.

The "Abracadabra" singer gave a surprise performance on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on Sunday (February 9) ahead of Super Bowl LIX, singing her song "Hold My Hand," from 2022's Top Gun: Maverick, per People. Sitting at a grand piano in the middle of New Orleans' most famous street, Gaga wore a white dress and matching oversized hat as she gave a moving rendition of the Oscar-nominated track.

The pre-recorded performance was introduced by Michael Strahan and Tom Brady, who wore shirts honoring NOLA strong and the L.A. Fire Department, respectively, and briefly spoke about the importance of uniting after a tragedy while surrounded by first responders and other Super Bowl attendees.

"This year began with a terror attack that tried to shatter it's spirit. But the resilience of New Orleans is matched by the resolved of our country," Strahan said, as Brady added, "When tragedy strikes, we don't break, we come together."

The crowd surrounding Gaga did just that, smiling and cheering along as she sang, "the fear that's inside you will lift, give it time," and "You can cry every last tear/ I won't leave 'til I understand/ Promise me just hold my hand."
