I spent the weekend in the middle of the mountains in a small town called Buena Vista. My childhood best friend, Kara, moved there about a year ago, and it was my first time visiting. She took me sight-seeing and to the tourist spots and local breweries/ restaurants. Here's everything I did and saw during my trip.
She met me in Denver. We checked in to the Kimpton Hotel downtown and had dinner and drinks at Brass Tacks near 16th Street Mall. The next morning, we ate breakfast at Jelly Cafe next to the University of Denver before we started the three-hour drive to Buena Vista.
We made it to Buena Vista around 2 p.m. Shortly after, we headed to the ranch so Kara could teach a horseback riding lesson. Then we ate dinner at Eddyline Brewery and dessert at Louie's Ice Cream Shop.
We made the hour-long hike to Lost Lake. Then we drove to the next town over, Salida, to shop. Once we were back in BV, we had dinner at The Buena Viking and drinks at The Jailhouse Craft Beer Bar.
We ate gourmet bagels at The Blend before a morning hike near Sleeping Indian Mountain, along the Arkansas River. Afterward, we drove to Ghost Town in St. Elmo to feed the chipmunks and explore the abandoned city. We relaxed at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort before we ate dinner at The Lariat and had drinks at Deerhammer Distillery.
