Sorry, caffeine addicts, but there's no real substitute for sleep.
A study from Michigan State University found that there isn't anything that can replace sleep no matter how much coffee or soda you drink.
The study involved 275 participants who were asked to stay up all night. The participants were then asked to complete both simple and challenging attention tasks. The researchers found that lack of sleep impaired both types of tasks.
The research team then gave the participants caffeine. They discovered that, while caffeine helped participants complete the easy tasks, it had little to no effect on the hard ones.
TL; DR: get a good night's sleep.
