Sisanie Catches Up With Mentor Who Helped Kickstart Her Radio Career

First off: Yum! And second: This is too cute. Sisanie took a trip down memory lane on-air on Tuesday, July 16, and shared how she got started in radio — and it all has to do with cinnamon rolls. No, really!

Sisanie welcomed her former boss “Butch the Baker” on-air and shared that she used to work at one of his cinnamon roll shops, Homies, in San Diego while in college. Butch, whose real name is Howard, used to work in radio as well and after meeting Sisanie encouraged her to apply for an internship at the local station.

“I can take no credit for her success, but I did tell her when she was hired at Homies, there’s something about you,” Butch shared with Seacrest. “She’s got a unique voice; she’s got great energy … and I was like, ‘Why don’t you go down to Q106?’ That’s where I worked at the time, and apply for an internship and just get in the door, and once she got in the door, she blew the doors off.”

Of course, there was also a lot of hard work involved, but the moral of the story: Always give it a shot!

Watch back the full video above to hear more about Sisanie’s journey to On Air With Ryan Seacrest and to, of course, hear about those mouth-watering cinnamon rolls ...
